Sustainability Engagement
GOAL: Increase employee engagement in sustainability efforts
First National is actively working to be more sustainable. One important aspect of these efforts is employee engagement. FNBO is dedicated to educating and engaging employees on the ways in which they can be sustainable in the workplace and beyond.
Recent Efforts
Sustainability in Community Impact Report
Sustainability has always been a topic covered within the Impact by FNBO reports and will continue to be highlighted as one of the many ways First National cares for its community. Collaboration across teams will ensure that information about First National’s environmental sustainability efforts is shared with the general public through the report and other mechanisms as appropriate.
Engagement Dashboard
From April to July 2023, FNBO launched the EcoChallenge, a sustainability engagement platform that empowers staff to take action and share their efforts with peers. Over 70 individuals participated in these efforts, resulting in 287 pounds of CO2 saved, 870 gallons of water saved, 246 miles of sustainable commuting, and 22 hours spent learning about sustainability topics.
New Intranet Page and Resources
First National has added a new tab to the Impact by FNBO Intranet page that details sustainability goals and resources, including an individual action toolkit, webinar recordings, and a link to the Recycling Program page under Buildings. The Recycling Program page provides information about the importance of waste diversion and how to sort items correctly.
Engagement Sessions
In 2022, FNBO partnered with Verdis Group to host four “lunch and learn” sessions to engage and educate employees about sustainability goals and other topics, including waste management, active commuting, and individual climate action. Recordings and slides from these sessions are available on the Intranet—see the Sustainability tab under Impact by FNBO.
Upcoming Projects
Ongoing Communication
FNBO will communicate with employees regularly to share sustainability successes, engage employees in sustainability efforts, and provide educational information. Check out the sustainability content on television slides at the Tower, social media posts, intranet articles, and more!
